Trust is the foundation of every relationship — both offline and online.

Trust is the foundation of every relationship — both offline and online.

#Trust is the foundation of every #relationship — both #offline and #online.

Identity plays a central role in this: only when it’s clear who we are dealing with can trust be established — in the real world just as much as in the digital one.

At the same time, the digital space is not a lawless zone. If we require identification or verification of certain attributes in the physical world, we must ensure this is possible digitally as well. This is not an intrusion on #privacy, but rather the consistent, technology-neutral application of our laws.

This does not mean becoming a transparent, fully exposed user. On the contrary: modern concepts ensure that we only share exactly what is necessary for a specific process — no more, no less.

Without a trustworthy, state-recognised #digital #identity, many digital processes would have to be severely limited or even prohibited. Because once again: the internet is not a lawless zone!

The Swiss E-ID provides this foundation: it combines security, privacy and user control — operated by the government, which forms the backbone of our society in Switzerland.

On September 28, 2025, we will vote once again in Switzerland on the E-ID. Let’s use the time until then for a fact-based, constructive discourse.

#Digital #trust is the backbone of a prosperous society — one that uses new technologies wisely to secure our prosperity.
